Valentina Cameranesi

Valentina Cameranesi Sgroi is a Milan-based independent creative director and set designer working
both with the physical objects design and their presentation, through spaces or images. Born in Rome,
began her career studying product design, upon graduating she started working freelance both in the
publishing industry and as textile pattern designer.

Since 2012 she works in association with Enrico Pompili : the Cameranesi/Pompili studio
develops concepts and projects both for commissioned and self initiated projects as set designers,
interior designers and/or creative directors according to each case.

Valentina Cameranesi conducts also an ongoing personal research where she explores the relationship
between the artificial and the natural, and the presence of objects and specific shapes in the collective
memory, especially in the vernacular decoration, through various media, mostly photography, video and
ceramics.
In 2012 she issued an ongoing and growing collection made of ceramic objects, handmade by expert
craftmen in Italy, later integrated by a laminated table and a jacquard pattern.
Since then she has been presenting her personal research with Villa Noailles in 2017 during the Design
Parade Toulon
And in 2018 with the show “Panorama” curated by Annalisa Rosso during Milano Salone del mobile
In 2019 she developed “Etere” glass collection for a private commission consisting of glasses pitchers,
candleholders and vases

She also curates the depiction of those objects by collaborating with different photographers, using the
representation of the object itself as a tool to evoke an imaginary context placed between reality and
constructed set up.
